World Teacher’s Day

World Teacher’s Day is similar to Teacher Appreciation Day, which is celebrated on May 8th. A day has been set aside throughout the world to spread awareness of the important role that teachers play in our children’s lives.  This is a day dedicated to showing moral support and voice words of appreciation to our favorite teachers. This is a worldwide event launched by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) in 1994.

  • Also known as Teacher’s Day or National Teacher Day
  • It is held on the first Tuesday in May
  • Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded Congress to proclaim a ‘National Teacher Day’
  • Madeleine Albright was once a teacher
  • While teachers have come a long way in recent years, we still have a long way to go. As a result, the United Nations created the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal for Education and World Teachers’ Day is an annual reminder of this goal and how much more needs to be done to attain it.
